Cataviña Natural History
Naturalists recognize groups of plants and animals by communities, based on adaptations to the physical environment. Large community groups are called biomes. The plants and animals near Cataviña comprise a desert biome. All of the organisms that live in a desert are adapted in numerous ways to deal with unpredictable amounts of water. If desert areas were not dry they would be taken over by other plants and animals and they would no longer be deserts.
